My dissertation focuses on the application of economic principles to protect threatened and endangered species. The theme that runs through my thesis is the design and evaluation of conservation policies to protect endangered species. In particular, I look at the effectiveness of voluntary approaches in mitigating stochastic bycatch of marine species such as sea turtles and dolphins, and the welfare effects of unilateral conservation policies in an open economy.
